CAD Technician – Edmonton

JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Branch Manager & Project Managers, the CAD Technician will be responsible for checking field returns, performing survey calculations and computations.  The CAD Technician will also be responsible for compiling project reports and related documentation for a wide variety of projects.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Creating layout files for survey crews from provided PDF and AutoCAD files for a variety of Civil & Structural Projects;
  • Creating earthworks 3D Models for use with machine controlled equipment;
  • Processing survey crew field returns and merging data into combined AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings;
  • Reviewing incoming field returns for completeness and accuracy;
  • Performing QA/QC on survey calculations;
  • Preparing as-built/redline drawings and reports;
  • life 3D models for use in computing and reporting quantities for client payment;
  • Prepare and adjust survey control and field data files layout;
  • Project documentation and document control;
  • Maintain current abstract/database of IFC drawings in support of field operations;

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience and Education

  • Civil or Geomatics Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent;
  • 3-5 years of experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D a requirement;
  • 3-5 years of survey field experience with an emphasis on Civil & Structural surveys would be considered an asset;
  • Experience with the following software suites would also be considered an asset; Trimble Business Centre and Microsurvey StarNET

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines;
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work on a team but also with the ability to work independently;
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Passion for excellence and attention to detail;

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position is located at LN Edmonton Office
  • Full-time position; Monday to Friday
  • This position starts in early April
